News, Makes and Moments from The Fabric Vault

Issue 03 – March 2026

A HUGE APOLOGY

We know that this is late and that it should have been emailed out to you on the 1st of April – but as you may know, we were travelling across Europe on our way to deliver donations for Ukraine. Well John was supposed to take his laptop and complete the newsletter en route – but he forgot! Anyway, hopefully its better late than never!

A note from the Vault

Well March was certainly busy again for us. The Common Threads table runner project dominated March for us as you will read more later, and even though this project comes to a close, there’s a new one ready to begin!

Last Months at The Fabric Vault

March saw the completion of our “Common Threads” table runner project and it was lovely to celebrate the end of this project with a blessing service held at Lichfield Cathedral on Thursday 26th March. This was incredibly well attended with over 300 people present including representatives from businesses, schools and many contributors to the table runner, we even had The Tuneless Choir present to perform several songs.

Sadly, the table leaves Lichfield in April, but we are planning to display the Runner in June at Lichfield Cathedral – but will share more details nearer the time.

Make of the Month

At The Fabric Vault, we’ve been telling our customers about our make of the month. If you haven’t heard yet, this is where we invite you to send in pictures of items that you’ve made with material purchased from our shop. This may be bags, quilts clothing etc.

Well this month, we couldn’t choose just one “make of the month” we’ve picked 2, again!

The first is something different this time. Not a dressmaking photo. Here are two little giraffes made from one of our fabrics. What do you think? We think they are absolutely amazing, such a great example of thinking “out of the box”.

The second one is made by Julie, another one of her blouses, this time she played with solid colours from our 100% cotton range, look at the pocket and the creativity in matching these colours.

If you’d like to see your makes featured, please email them to John: [email protected] or WhatsApp them to us at the Fabric Vault.

What’s Coming Next?

As always, our Sewing Retreat Day of 2026 continue – our next one is our first 2 day event which will be on Sunday 12th and Monday 13th April. Best of all, we have managed to secure a discount for you if you decide to book both days which makes the 2nd day cheaper! IN addition to this, Dagmar has been working hard on the booking system for this on our website so that it allows you to book and pay in instalments for the Sew Realxing days rather than have to pay the full amount in one go – please look on our website for further info and as we speak, there are still a few spaces available! From the Community

As previously mentioned, our Table Runner project has come to its end, but great news is our next project….. Poppies.

This will officially launch on Monday 4th May at Lichfield Cathedral. Both Dagmar and myself will be on hand along with several of our volunteers to tell you more about how you can get involved in this.
