Poppies Project

A Community Celebration of Craft

Bringing the Poppies Project to Your Community

The Poppies Project is bringing together thousands of people through creativity, remembrance, community spirit, and shared experiences.

We are delighted to offer talks, workshops, and community activities for schools, WI groups, craft groups, churches, care homes, libraries, community organisations, and other groups interested in becoming part of this remarkable project.

Whether you are looking for an inspiring speaker, a hands-on activity, or a larger community project, we can tailor a session to suit your group.

Poppies Talks & Workshops

Poppies Project Talks

Our talks explore the story behind the Poppies Project, the partnership with Lichfield Cathedral, and the vision of creating a powerful community display for Remembrance 2027.

Topics may include:

  • How the project began
  • Why remembrance still matters today
  • Creativity, wellbeing, and community connection
  • The role of community projects in bringing people together
  • Building a display of more than 120,000 handmade poppies
  • The journey towards Remembrance 2027

Talks can be adapted to suit different audiences and time requirements.

Talks with a Creative Activity

Many groups enjoy combining a talk with a simple hands-on activity.

Following a presentation about the project, participants can create their own poppy while learning more about the project and how they can contribute.

These sessions encourage creativity, conversation, and connection, while giving everyone the opportunity to become part of the project.

Poppies Talks & Workshops

Workshops

For groups looking for a more practical experience, we can offer dedicated poppy-making workshops.

Participants can learn a variety of techniques, including:

  • Fabric poppies
  • Knitted poppies
  • Crocheted poppies
  • Hand-sewn poppies
  • Felt poppies

Workshops can be adapted for beginners and experienced crafters alike.

No previous experience is required.

Bringing the Poppies Project to Your Group

For groups looking to become involved in the project, we can offer talks and one-off visits tailored to your organisation.

These sessions provide an opportunity to learn about the Poppies Project, discover the story behind it, and contribute handmade poppies towards the growing collection for the Lichfield Cathedral display.

Whether you are a school, church, WI group, craft club, care setting, youth organisation, or community group, we would be delighted to discuss how your members can become part of this remarkable community project.

Who Can Take Part?

Our talks and workshops can be adapted for:

  • Schools and colleges
  • WI groups
  • Craft and textile groups
  • Churches and faith groups
  • Community organisations
  • Libraries
  • Care homes and wellbeing groups
