About this Lesson

Ready to move beyond threading your machine and start developing real sewing skills?

This practical and enjoyable course helps children build confidence controlling fabric while sewing. Through a series of fun exercises and activities, they’ll learn how to guide fabric accurately and feel more comfortable using their sewing machine.

In this lesson, children will learn:

  • how to guide fabric smoothly while sewing
  • how to improve accuracy and avoid wonky lines
  • how to sew curves, circles, and corners with confidence
  • how to control speed while sewing
  • how to use decorative stitches creatively
  • how to feel more relaxed and in control while sewing

🧵 This course is designed to help children become confident using their own sewing machine, so we strongly encourage them to bring the machine they use at home.

There will be plenty of opportunities to practise, experiment, and build confidence in a supportive environment.

By the end of the course, children will feel more comfortable handling fabric, sewing different shapes, and using their sewing machine with greater confidence and control.

🧵 Any accessories or attachments that came with your machine

✨ A willingness to practise and learn

Don’t worry if you’ve never used your machine before. This course is designed to help you become familiar with your own machine and build confidence using it.

Just come along ready to learn, create, and enjoy sewing in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

Important Information for Children’s Lessons

🧵 Children aged 8–12 years old must be accompanied by an adult during their first lesson. Please book one space only and let us know that an adult will also be attending.

🧵 If your child is older than 12 but may require additional support during lessons, please contact us before booking — we will always do our best to help and discuss suitable arrangements.
