About this Lesson

Does your child love reading, drawing, writing, or simply getting cosy with their favourite book?

In this fun and creative sewing course, children will make their own reading cushion while learning useful sewing and construction techniques along the way.

In this lesson, children will learn:

  • how to construct a practical reading cushion
  • how to add a useful storage pocket
  • how to attach a carry handle
  • basic sewing and construction techniques
  • how to improve sewing accuracy
  • optional simple embroidery to personalise their project

🧵 The finished cushion includes a handy pocket that’s perfect for storing books, tablets, notebooks, colouring books, pencils, or other favourite items.

This is a fantastic project for children who would like to create something useful while building confidence with their sewing machine and developing new skills.

By the end of the course, children will have completed their own personalised reading cushion and gained valuable sewing experience they can use in future projects.

🧵 Children aged 8–12 years old must be accompanied by an adult during their first lesson. Please book one space only and let us know that an adult will also be attending.
