About this Lesson

Would your child love to learn how to make their own clothes?

This fun and beginner-friendly dressmaking course is the perfect introduction to garment sewing. Children will create their own pair of pyjama bottoms or lounge trousers while learning useful sewing and pattern-reading skills along the way.

In this lesson, children will learn:

  • how to use paper sewing patterns
  • an introduction to PDF sewing patterns and how they work
  • how to cut fabric accurately
  • how to sew French seams for a neat professional finish
  • garment construction techniques
  • how clothing is assembled from individual pieces
  • confidence-building sewing skills

🧵 This is a fantastic introduction to dressmaking and helps children understand how clothes are made while creating something practical they can wear and enjoy.

As part of the lesson, children will be able to choose fabric for their project from our shop, which is included in the course price.

By the end of the course, children will have completed their own pyjama bottoms or lounge trousers and gained valuable dressmaking skills that can be used in future garment projects.

🧵 Children aged 8–12 years old must be accompanied by an adult during their first lesson. Please book one space only and let us know that an adult will also be attending.

🧵 If your child is older than 12 but may require additional support during lessons, please contact us before booking — we will always do our best to help and discuss suitable arrangements.
